Its festival time and what else can assure a great opening for the great star of Tamil movie industry. Vijay ensured that the film releases during the festival time so that he can continue his success from his previous film ‘Theri‘. Lets see whether the film has the potential to fulfill his streak.

Bairavaa (Vijay) meets Malarvizhi (Keerthy Suresh), a medical college student, at a wedding and falls in love. When he realizes that she is embroiled in a bitter legal battle with the corrupt chairman of her medical college, he promptly becomes her guard. He accompanies her to her hometown in Tirunelveli to meet real estate tycoon PK @ Periyakannu (Jagapathi Babu), who is the town’s biggest bully. He and his accomplice Kottaiveeran (Daniel Balaji) rule the town with an iron hand. His medical college is a sham with no facilities and Malarvizhi and her friends, who have paid a lot of money for their seats, are fighting for their rights. The flashback shows the rape and death of Malarvizhi’s friend Vaishali (Aparna Vinod), another student, who has sold her home to get a seat in the college. The second half is all about what happens between Bairavaa and PK.

The huge drawback of the entire movie is the entire second half. Boring screenplay and too many fights make us tired. The first half somewhat manages to pass as it has a flashback where the actual story is revealed. As usual, Vijay once again proves his capability of carrying a film on his strong shoulders. He completely steals the show with his natural swag and energetic screen presence. There are plenty of mass moments in the film and Vijay is full of energy lending much credibility to the over-the-top dialogues and unbelievable stunt sequences. His hairstyle and dialogue delivery is completely opposite to what we have seen in his previous films.

Satish’s wisecracks keep up the spirit for some time and Keerthy Suresh looks lovely in her part and has a meaty role too. Jagapathi Babu and Daniel Balaji both talented actors are just the usual loud rowdies. One of the major drawback of the movie, to be honest is Santhosh Narayanan’s underwhelming score that you wonder if these songs were created while he was half asleep! We really miss one peppy number in this Vijay entertainer. Bharathan should think why the screenplay has failed in both of his film with the same actor and after making the mistake once he comes back and does the same again and has wasted his golden opportunity. Overall the movie has its mass moments in the first half, rides on Vijay’s charismatic presence and disappoints on everything else..!! 🙂
