After Nivin Pauly delivered the mass hit ‘Premam’ and after coming to know that this director Abrid Shine only directed the cricket classic ‘1983’ and the duo-unite in ‘Action Hero Biju’ is the main reason why I chose to watch this film. Lets see how this Action hero is.
The film is a realistic portrayal of incidents that happen in the life of Biju Paulose (Nivin Pauly), a Sub Inspector of police at a certain point of time. A ride with a police officer, that’s the tag line of the film and it is exactly that. If you are looking for a revenge action cop movie then this is not such a routine police film. Biju is not the conventional superhero police officer, he is a normal cop, who is passionate about his responsibilities and is totally committed to his job.
The difficulties and hard situations a police officer faces are well executed and is depicted brilliantly on-screen. Life of a police officer is glorified through this movie in a realistic way. Nivin Pauly tries his best to suit his character. He is impressive, especially in those lighter moments and also in the emotional scenes. Anu Emmanuel has nothing much to do other than being a pretty face. One of the highlights of the film is the superb performance from some of the supporting characters.
BGM by Rajesh creates interest and the songs are just montages which does not affect the flow of the film. Editing could have been crisper. Abrid Shine handles well the screenplay with both intense moments as well as lighter moments, which show that even those rough-looking cops have a sense of humor. This is definitely an unconventional film which I have never come across and such tries needs to be welcomed warmly. Take a bow..!! 🙂
